Dear Fliers,

Last week felt like Springtime!… This week, not so much. It has been cold and wet. The birds are being let out twice a day every day the weather allows. We are still having hawks bother the birds, twice this week, they got scattered. We have done a few inventories, so be sure to check that your birds are accounted for.
If you are missing birds, you may send 1 or 2 birds as replacements for each bird that dies or gets lost. If a bird dies we will contact the breeder. If you are missing a bird and haven’t heard from us; you can assume it went missing off the loft.
We don’t let the birds sit much. After a new group is done in the break in pen and is introduced to the main flock, we give them 4 or 5 days of doing whatever they want with as little as interference as possible. Then we begin encouraging them to fly. We aren’t flagging yet. We just want them to make a few laps to gain some confidence.
We disinfect the loft at least once a week, and disinfect and change out the waterers every couple days.
We made a mistake when making May 20th the last receiving day. It was overlooked that was a Monday. You may send birds the week of May 20th, making May 25th the last receiving day.
